Madeira will host a series of professional, amateur and junior golf tournaments across all three of its courses this autumn, headlined by the first Faldo Junior Tour event ever staged in Portugal. Palheiro Golf, Clube de Golf Santo da Serra and Porto Santo Golfe will each host at least one event between mid-September and mid-October, giving the archipelago its busiest competitive calendar to date.
The schedule begins at Porto Santo Golfe on September 16 with the ninth edition of the Colombo’s Golf Trophy, an established annual fixture that draws players from across Europe. The same venue then hosts the Porto Santo Iberian Open from September 29 to October 3, bringing in professionals from the Iberian peninsula and beyond.
Palheiro’s First Federation Event
On October 3–4, Palheiro Golf will stage a Portuguese Golf Federation tournament for the first time in its history when the fifth edition of the Mid-Amateur & Senior Circuit takes place at the course. The event adds to Palheiro’s profile as a venue for sanctioned competition.

Faldo Junior Tour Debut
The autumn calendar concludes at Clube de Golf Santo da Serra from October 16–18 with the Faldo Junior Tour: Madeira, a 54-hole event using the Machico & Desertas composite layout. The tournament counts toward both the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and European Golf Rankings, with players competing in four age categories: boys’ and girls’ under-18 and under-21. Winners in each category earn qualification for the 30th Faldo Junior Tour European Grand Final in November.
A spokesperson for the Madeira Promotion Bureau said: “This exceptional calendar of events highlights the strength and diversity of Madeira’s golf offering. From elite professional competition to the next generation of golfing talent, we are proud to welcome players from around the world and further strengthen Madeira’s position as one of Europe’s most exciting and fastest-growing golf destinations.”

Course Expansion
The autumn programme arrives as Madeira prepares to expand its golf infrastructure. An 18-hole championship course designed by Sir Nick Faldo is due to open at Ponta do Pargo in 2027, giving the islands a fourth venue. The Madeira government has also announced plans for two new nine-hole courses at Santo da Serra and Porto Santo, adding 36 new holes across the archipelago in total.
Named the World Travel Awards’ “World’s Leading Island Destination” for the 11th consecutive year in 2025, Madeira sits roughly 1,000 km from the European mainland and enjoys a mild year-round climate, with temperatures ranging from 25°C in summer to 17°C in winter. Direct flights connect the islands to major European cities and the United States.
Golfers visiting the archipelago can book the Madeira Golf Passport, offering three rounds at either Clube de Golf Santo da Serra or Palheiro Golf from €310 per person, together with free transfers between course and hotel. The passport can be upgraded to add rounds at Porto Santo Golfe.
