South African Dean Burmester fired a bogey-free 65 to take the 36-hole lead at 11-under at the Omega European Masters.

Burmester started the day four shots behind overnight leader James Morrison and started slow with pars on the first five holes before closing the front nine with three birdies to make the turn in 32 then made two more at the 10th and 14th.

“I’ve played well both days, today I was just solid. I didn’t get off to the best of starts, but holed a nice ten footer on the first for par. You need those momentum ones, that just set the tone for the day.

“I putted beautifully again today. The greens were a little trickier this afternoon, I think it will be more of the same on the weekend.

“I’m very happy with today.”

One shot behind are Englishman Andy Sullivan (66) and Belgian Thomas Detry (65) followed by Renato Paratore (66) of Italy in fourth place at 9-under.

“It feels like I’ve really found my swing again,” said Detry. “I’ve been struggling a little bit the last couple of weeks.

“I have done some work on my short game with my coach and my swing with another coach and it’s really paying off it feels like, especially on a course like this one where iron shots are really important, hitting the targets on the greens, it’s really important that I’ve been able to do that.”

Morrison produced two birdies on the front nine but struggled badly on the back nine with five bogeys, a double bogey at the par-4 12th and a single birdie to close with a 74, slipping down the leaderboard into a share of fourteenth place at 6-under.
