Si Woo Kim takes narrow lead into the final day

RBC Heritage R3

Reading time: 3 minutes

Si Woo Kim bogeyed the 18th and closed with a 5-under 64 to reach 15-under and take a one-shot lead at the RBC Heritage. He leads the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (5.188).

“I played great. Only missed the last hole, so that’s not a big deal,” said the Korean player. “So I play pretty much 35 holes really decent. So I’m not going to worry about the last hole for tomorrow.

“I kind of like pulled the tee shot, so kind of like a little tough angle for me, especially to that pin. But it wasn’t bad.

“Even second shot, I hit it perfectly. I thought it went more. I hit it Thursday, Friday, Saturday, same spot. Hopefully tomorrow I can hit it on the green.

“I’m in a good position. I’ve been playing good. Especially iron play is really good for this week. Yeah, just one more day left.”

Kim holds the 54-hole lead/co-lead for the sixth time on the PGA Tour and first since the 2023 Memorial Tournament where he finished 4th. He is 2-for-5 in converting to victory (2016 Wyndham Championship, 2021 American Express).

Kim has won our times in 281 starts, at the 2016 Wyndham Championship, 2017 Players Championship, 2021 American Express and 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii.

He is making his 12th start of the season, with a 12th place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am the best of four top-25 finishes.

18- and 36-hole leader Justin Thomas of the United States made two bogeys and four birdies on Saturday to close with a 69 and move down into a share of second place at 14-under alongside compatriot Andrew Novak who signed for a bogey-free 66.

Since capturing his first victory at the season-ending 2024 RSM Classic, Maverick McNealy has added four top-10 finishes this season (2nd/The Genesis Invitational, T3/Valero Texas Open, T8/The Sentry, T9/WM Phoenix Open). He lies in solo fourth place at 13-under having made a single bogey for a 65.

Two weeks after earning his fourth career title at the Valero Texas Open, American Brian Harman trails by three in a share of fifth place at 12-under. He made his Tour debut 20 years ago at the 2004 RBC Heritage (MC) as a 17-year-old and the reigning U.S. Junior Amateur champion.

Sharing fifth place is England’s Tommy Fleetwood who seeks a first win in his 153rd start and owns five runner-up finishes, most recently at the2023 RBC Canadian Open where he lost the playoff.

World No. 1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler of the USA trails by four in T7 in his bid for a third successful title defense (2023 WM Phoenix Open, 2024 Players Championship). He is seeking to become the first player to successfully defend a title at the RBC Heritage since Boo Weekley in 2008.
