Cameron Smith won the Sentry Tournament of Champions wire-to-wire after a bogey-free 65 to close with a 34-under par 258.
“It’s such a good event. I’ve been fortunate enough to be here two times before. I love Maui. It’s such a cool place and obviously you’re competing against the best guys the year prior and all guys that know how to win a golf tournament. So yeah, it’s pretty cool to be the winner.”

The Australian broke the PGA Tour record of most strokes under par since 1950.
“I think just stringing four really good days together. I think that’s always kind of something I’ve, not struggled with, but I’ve always kind of wanted to do that, and I’ve always had kind of a scratchy day in there. So four really, really solid days of golf.
“Obviously playing with Jon over the weekend was tough. He kept firing at pins and kept making birdies and I felt like I had to stay on top of him and it was nice to do that.”

Spain’s Jon Rahm closed with a bogey-free 66 to take solo second place one shot behind.
“There’s a lot of positives to take,” said Rahm. “There’s some stuff I’ve been working on in the off-season that was a lot better today. Some of those flighted wedges I hit this week were a lot better than they have been in the past. I still can improve quite a bit, but it’s moving and trending in the right direction, so I’m happy with that.
“My iron play was really, really good. I know I’m usually ball striking but it felt amazing and I hit a lot of great shots today and even putting was great. My Achilles heel on this golf course has been putting and this is the first time I putted good and putted great. So hopefully I can keep that going throughout the season and give myself a lot more chances to win.”
