Solheim Cup star joins Aramco Team Series lineup in Shenzhen

The fourth leg of the Aramco Team Series will see 28 teams compete in a two-day team format and a three-day individual competition

The Aramco Team Series is heading to Shenzhen, China, from 4-6 October, and it’s bringing some of the biggest names in women’s golf.

Co-organised by Golf Saudi and the China Golf Association (CGA), the tournament at Mission Hills Resort will feature a stellar lineup including China’s own Ruoning Yin, Xiyu Lin, and Muni He, along with LPGA stars Alison Lee and Angel Yin.

Ruoning Yin

At just 21, Ruoning Yin has already taken the golf world by storm. Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Yin won the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and holds the record for most consecutive wins on the China LPGA Tour.

Fresh from her recent victory at the Dow Championship with partner Atthaya Thitkul, Yin is thrilled to be playing in another team event, especially on her home soil.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Aramco Team Series from other players on Tour who say how much fun it is to play as part of a team,” says Yin. “After enjoying the team format at the Dow Championship, I’m excited to debut in this series. I can’t wait to play before a home crowd and feed off their energy.”

Xiyu Lin

Joining Yin is fellow Chinese star Xiyu Lin, the Olympic bronze medalist and defending champion. Despite challenging weather conditions cutting last year’s tournament in Hong Kong short, Lin clinched her victory in a playoff against Jin Young Ko. Now, she’s ready to defend her title in familiar territory.

“Playing in Hong Kong last year was a great experience, even with the shortened tournament due to the rain,” Lin shares. “I’m hoping we’ll get to play all three days this time around! Returning as the defending individual champion, I always strive to do my best. Still, I’m especially excited to see such a high-calibre tournament being brought to mainland China.”

Alison Lee and Angel Yin

LPGA star Alison Lee, who will represent Team USA at the Solheim Cup this week, is also set to compete. Lee made waves last year with her record-breaking 29-under-par finish at Riyadh Golf Club, and she’s no stranger to victory at the Aramco Team Series, having won events in Sotogrande (2021) and Riyadh (2023). She’ll be aiming to add another title to her impressive resume.

Joining Lee is fellow American and World No. 32, Angel Yin. Yin, who narrowly missed out on a Solheim Cup win with Team USA in 2023, returns for her second appearance in the series this year, ready to make her mark after missing the cut in London.

Muni He

China’s Muni He, known for her dynamic style both on and off the course, will also take the stage in Shenzhen. Following her T33 finish at last year’s weather-shortened event in Hong Kong, He is eager to showcase her skills in front of a home crowd and make her mark in the competition.

Shenzhen awaits

With a strong lineup co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the China LPGA Tour (CLPGA), fans can expect three days of world-class golf in the heart of Shenzhen.
