There are just five events remaining in the 2025 LIV Golf League following the conclusion of the Dallas tournament last week.
The main reason why several stars swapped the PGA or DPWT was due to the limited event schedule. Indeed, this year, only 14 events are scheduled between February and August.
New CEO Scott O’Neil has been tasked to take the breakaway league to new heights after taking over from Greg Norman.
While more events in the calendar may be added in the near future, the 2026 schedule has been leaked. Only 14 events are penciled in, however, the same as this year.
This was revealed by the Sports Business Journal, with 2026 having the same amount of tournaments as 2025. The news has yet to be official announced, but it according to sources, the information is accurate.
So, with the same number of events, but with two new locations added, it begs the question, which events will be axed?
LIV Golf adds South Africa to its 2026 schedule
According to the leaked 2026 schedule, an event is set to take place in South Africa next year.
Back in May, CEO Scott O’Neil met with Gayton McKenzie, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture in the Republic of South Africa. They discussed a potential new tournament being held in South Africa.
Writing on X, he said: “I met with the brilliant CEO, Scott O’Neil, and the rest of his bright executive team at golf’s freshest new globe-spanning tournament, LIV Golf, which has an all-South African team, Stingers GC,”
“We are full of hope about bringing this festival of sport and culture to SA soon.”
It appears as though this is set to be a reality. Stingers GC are led by Louis Oosthuizen, joined by Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel, and Dean Burmester.
Elsewhere, New Orleans is set to host an event. A possible venue is Bayou Oaks, although this has yet to be confirmed.
This, of course, means two current events will be axed. Both LIV Golf Miami and LIV Golf Dallas are not in the schedule for next year, meaning the USA loses an event.
The 2026 LIV Golf League certainly has a more international feel to it. Events will be staged in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Mexico, USA, South Korea, Spain and Great Britain.
This has been the aim all along. But it finally looks as though the Saudi-backed league is spreading its wings.
