Trump Turnberry has opened Trump’s Twelve, a new 12-hole par-three course designed to broaden the golf offering at the Ayrshire resort.
The course officially opened on August 10, with holes measuring from 70 to 206 yards. Developed on ground that formerly housed the Arran Course, it sits alongside the Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce championship layouts.
Trump’s Twelve features undulating greens, varied surrounds, natural wasteland and carefully placed water hazards. Multiple teeing grounds allow each hole to be played from different distances and angles, making the layout suitable for beginners and useful for accomplished golfers working on wedge play and distance control.
A flexible short-course design
Trump Turnberry’s in-house team designed the course under Allan Patterson, the resort’s Director of Golf Courses and Estates. GolfLink Evolve completed the shaping and groundworks.
Each hole also has an artificial-grass tee-line installed by SYNLawn UK using Tee Strike+ technology. The surface provides another teeing option when weather or ground conditions affect the natural tees.
Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of The Trump Organisation, said the course forms part of the continuing investment at Turnberry.

That investment has included changes to the Ailsa and the development of the resort’s PGA-certified Golf Academy. The Ailsa reopened in June 2025 following work led by architect Martin Ebert, including changes to the seventh and eighth holes, new tee boxes and revised banking around several greens.
The four-time Open venue remains among the leading courses in Britain and Ireland. It placed fifth in the 2026 GB&I Top 100 ranking, behind Royal County Down, the Old Course at St Andrews, Royal Portrush and Muirfield.
Trump’s Twelve joins the Golf Academy
The Trump Turnberry Golf Academy will incorporate the new course, alongside its TrackMan Range, Trackman iO simulators, short-game areas and PGA instruction.
Its format gives coaches a full playing environment for lessons, extending short-game work beyond the practice green. Players can work on trajectory, carry distance, recovery shots and putting under normal course conditions.
“This is a fantastic addition to the Academy. Short-game performance is where golfers save shots, and Trump’s Twelve gives us an outstanding environment that simply wasn’t available before,” Golf Academy Manager Alistair Kyle said.
“Whether someone is picking up a club for the first time or preparing for tournament golf, the course allows us to coach every aspect of scoring in realistic playing conditions.
“It will become a key part of our coaching programmes, junior development, family experiences and Academy packages while also offering tremendous enjoyment for guests simply looking to play a memorable round.”
Kyle said the layout will support Academy packages, family experiences, junior development and coaching programmes. Guests can also book it as a standalone round.
Four different golf experiences
Turnberry’s golf portfolio now covers the Ailsa, the 7,203-yard King Robert the Bruce, Trump’s Twelve and the Wee Links pitch-and-putt course.
The new layout provides a shorter alternative to the two 18-hole championship courses, with its own distinct layout. Its longest hole reaches 206 yards, while the shortest measures 70 yards, creating room for anything from a controlled wedge to a long iron or hybrid depending on the selected tees and conditions.
Trump Turnberry is around one hour from Glasgow International Airport and two hours from Edinburgh. The coastal resort, which traces its history to the opening of the Station Hotel in 1906, last staged The Open in 2009.
