September 17-20
Winged Foot Golc Club, Mamaroneck, New York
$12,500,000
Round 1, Round 2, Round 3
Bryson DeChambeau has won the U.S. Open, heedless of the narrow fairways and deep rough that make Winged Foot the toughest of all U.S. Opens.
''One hundred percent, no doubt,'' DeChambeau said. ''For me, it's about the journey of can I execute every shot more repeatable than everybody else. I was able to do that this week. That's why I won by six.''
He is the third person in history to win an NCAA title, a U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open following Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
Amazing feeling after so much hard work has gone into this transformation of my game and outlook. Thank you to my fans, team and sponsors for sticking with me. And thank you to the @USGA, @usopengolf and Winged Foot for an incredible test. So honored to have won my 1st major here pic.twitter.com/75OEogzMtc

DeChambeau was the only player under par in the final round with drives that averaged 325 yards. In six U.S. Opens at Winged Foot, he is only the third player to shoot below par. His 6-under, 274 was the lowest score.
''I don't really know what to say because that's just the complete opposite of what you think a U.S. Open champion does''said Rory McIlroy. ''Look, he's found a way to do it. Whether that's good or bad for the game, I don't know, but it's just not the way I saw this golf course being played or this tournament being played.''
21 year-old Matthew Wolff was on course to become the first player since Francis Ouimet to win in his U.S. Open debut, the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bobby Jones in 1923 and the youngest to win any major since Woods won his first Masters at 21 in 1997.
He led by two strokes entering the final round, made a 10-foot eagle putt on the par-5 9th to stay within one shot - his only hole under par - but closed with a 75 to finish at even-par 280. A score sufficient to win at the previous five Opens at Winged Foot.
"You can't take Bryson out because obviously he won, but shooting even par for four rounds at Winged Foot is pretty exceptional,'' said Wolff.
"Oh my gosh."

"That's beautiful."
"That's stupid long there."@B_DeChambeau can carry his 3-wood 300 yards and driver 343.
No surprise that he ranked first in Driving Distance last season. pic.twitter.com/XjKUDrals3
Louis Oosthuizen made birdie on the 18th to finish third.
''I don't think they can set it up for him, to be honest,'' said Oosthuizen. ''I don't know what they can do really, because he's hitting it so far. He's so strong out of the rough. And he's probably one of the best putters out there, which a week that he really putts well, you're going to have a lot of trouble.''
