Jon Rahm secured a captain’s pick for the 2025 Ryder Cup following a season where he claimed the LIV Golf individual title once again.
While the Spaniard didn’t make the top six automatic qualifiers, Luke Donald was never going to leave him off the team.
His reputation among the elite means he will be an intimating prospect for any American taking on the two-time major winner in New York at the end of the month.

This will be Rahm’s fourth Ryder Cup having made his debut back in 2018 at Le Golf National.
What is his record like at the biennial competition, however? We at Golf Today take a dive into his three previous appearances.
2018 Ryder Cup: Le Golf National
Rahm secured qualification automatically for the 2018 edition after an impressive start to his professional career.
By the time the competition started, the Spaniard had already won twice on the PGA Tour and three times on the DPWT.
Partnering Justin Rose in the opening fourballs, the duo were defeated by Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau. Rahm was rested for the afternoon foursomes, but once again was chosen for the fourballs on Saturday morning.
He and Ian Poulter lost to the American duo of Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, meaning Rahm entered the singles without a win.
Facing off against Tiger Woods, who had recently finished second at the PGA Championship, meant Rahm was up against it.
Never fear, however, as the young matador secured his only point in France by defeating Woods 2&1 in what was a crucial victory for Europe’s cause.
2021 Ryder Cup: Whistling Straits
Rahm was now arguably one of the stars of the European team heading into the 2021 edition. He had won his first major at the US Open earlier in the summer, qualifying first on the points list.
He partnered Sergio Garcia in the opening morning foursomes, helping Europe win the opening point with a 3&1 victory over Thomas and Spieth.
Alongside Tyrrell Hatton in the afternoon, the pair sealed half a point against Bryson and DeChambeau, although Europe trailed 6-2 heading into Saturday.

On Saturday, Rahm and Garcia echoed the famous Spanish pairing of Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olzabal by winning both of their matches. These points counted for two of the three that the away side won heading into the singles.
He lost his singles clash against Scottie Scheffler, but Rahm finished as Europe’s top point scorer with 3.5 points out of his five matches.
2023 Ryder Cup: Marco Simone Golf Club
Now with a Masters title under his belt, Rahm was, alongside McIlroy, the bonafide leader of the European side heading into the 2023 event.
With Garcia missing out, Rahm formed a solid partnership with Hatton, defeating Scheffler and Sam Burns on Friday morning, before Rahm secured a half in the afternoon games while playing alongside Nicolai Hojgaard.

On Saturday, the Spaniard and Hatton were unstoppable against Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, winning 2&1. With Europe leading 9.5 – 2.5 heading into the afternoon session, Donald opted to rest the Spaniard for the singles.
A wise move indeed as Rahm was out first against Scheffler. The two heavyweights traded blows throughout an enthralling contest and the match was eventually tied.
Across his four matches, Rahm claimed three points.
This means heading into the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rahm has won 7.5 points and suffered just three defeats.
If Europe want to claim their first away victory since 2012, Donald will be hoping the two-time major winner is at his very best.
