Play was suspended at the WM Phoenix Open at 12:32 p.m. and resumed at 4:02 p.m. (delay of 3 hours, 30 minutes). Heavy rain hit the Scottsdale, Arizona, area and flooding occurred across the course leaving conditions unplayable.
Play was suspended due to darkness at 6:10 p.m., with the entire afternoon wave yet to complete their round. Those players will be back in position Friday at 7:30 a.m.
Sahith Theegala closed with a 6-under 65 featuring seven birdies and a single bogey to take the clubhouse lead at TPC Scottsdale.
Fellow American Andrew Novak lies in second place at 5-under through nine holes.
Ireland’s Shane Lowry and South Korea’s S.H. Kim both closed with 67s for a share of third place at 4-under.
American Jordan Spieth follows a shot futher back after closing with a 68 and shares fifth place with compatriot Cameron Young and Canadian Nick Taylor.
