Australians Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman shot 2-under 70 in alternate-shot play on Sunday to force a playoff against South Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel.

Oosthuizen and Schwartzel, who held a one-stroke lead overnight, alternated holding the lead all day with Smith and Leishman and closed with a 71.

The Australians parred the 18th on the first extra hole while Oosthuizen found the water with his tee shot and closed with a double bogey.

“Disappointed,” said Oosthuizen, “but I felt we played well, gave ourselves loads of opportunities. Alternate-shot is always a tough format. But we have a third here (in 2018). We have a second. I feel next time we'll come back and get the first.”

This is Smith's second win in the event, his third PGA victory, and his sixth top-10 since the season started last October. His last victory was at the 2020 Sony Open in Hawaii.

Leishman has now won six times on Tour, his last victory came at the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open.

Peter Uihlein and Richy Werenski finished third after shooting six birdies and a bogey to close with a 67.
