Chris Kirk has won his sixth PGA TOUR victory at the season-opener in Hawaii. He made eight birdies for a final round 65 to reach 29-under and win The Sentry by one shot.
The American finished just outside the top-50 in the world last year and victory assures him a place in the Masters.
“I’m so thankful for these last five years. It’s been incredible,” said Kirk. “I’m enjoying competing, I’m enjoying the work. I didn’t have that for a while. It’s a constant process and I’m just loving every minute of it.”
Sahith Theegala of the United States, closed with a 63 to finish runner-up at 28-under followed by compatriot Jordan Spieth in third place a further shot behind after a final-round 65.
South Korea’s Byeong Hun An shot a 66 featuring an eagle at the par-5 15th to finish in solo fourth place at 25-under.
Fellow Korean Sungjae Im played a final-round 10-under 63 including a personal-high 11 birdies in a single round to close the week with 34 birdies, the most in a 72-hole PGA TOUR event on record (1983-present). He finished in a five-way tie for fifth place at 25-under.
