Thorbjørn Olesen carded a 63 marred by a single bogey to reach 22-under and take a four-shot lead into the final day at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
The Dane felt he played better than on Friday when he’d carded a 62.
“I thought today I played a lot better (than yesterday). I hit a lot more fairways today, and that gave me the chance to be aggressive with the second shots. It was nice to find so many fairways. It was a great round again.
“I’ll play roughly the same (tomorrow). You have a guy like Rasmus behind you and you know anything can happen with his firepower. You have to keep focused, do your own thing. It’s never going to be easy but I’m going to try my hardest.”
Olesen has held the 54-hole lead on the DP World Tour seven times and went on to win six times.
“I feel pretty comfortable in that position,” he said. There’s always going to be nerves, but it’s how you deal with it. I enjoy being in that position. That’s what you practice for as a little kid, to have the chance to win on a Sunday on the DP World Tour.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun tomorrow. It would mean a lot. I have both my kids here and my wife. That would make it a lot more fun if I could do it tomorrow. It’s nice to have them when you come off after a round and see the kids.”
Compatriot Rasmus Højgaard who held a share of the overnight lead carded a 68 and slipped down into second place at 18-under.
France’s Frederic Lacroix carded a 66 featuring an eagle at the par-5 8th and a bogey to move into solo third place at 16-under.
South African Brandon Stone closed with a 67 for a share of fourth place at 15-under alongside Dane Marcus Helligkilde and Spaniard Angel Hidalgo who both carded 66s.
Spain’s Manuel Elvira, who shared the overnight lead, carded a 72 and lies in a share of seventh place at 14-under.
