Garrick Higgo made three birdies and three bogeys to close with an even par 72 and win the Corales Puntacana Championship by one shot at 14-under.

“If you’re looking from the outside it does look like it came out of nowhere, but I’ve kind of been trending I’d say since Cabo last year,” said Higgo. “I’ve changed my swing completely and obviously I’ve had to deal with some injuries. You know, it’s been a lot of good things. I played well in Savannah a couple weeks ago, played good at Torrey in the wind. Like I’ve steadily kept improving.

“It was definitely hard to take finishing 135 on the FedEx last year, but like this is unbelievable and this is why I play the game. You know, the journey, like I’m going to go through a down again, everybody does, I’m going to have ups. I just truly enjoy the journey.”

This is the South African’s second PGA Tour victory in his 95th start at the age of 25. He claimed his first title at the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree in his second-ever start.

Higgo leads the Aon Swing 5 and looks to earn a spot in the next Signature Event, the 2025 Truist Championship.

He made his third start this season while playing out of the 126-150 category in the 2024 FedExCup Fall standings (T24/Farmers Insurance Open, T12/Puerto Rico Open, Won/Corales Puntacana Championship).

Higgo is the first lefthander to win the Corales Puntacana Championship and third to win this season following Joe Highsmith at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches and Brian Harman at the Valero Texas Open.

American Joel Dahmen who had led since the first round made just two birdies against six bogeys including three in a row from the 16th for a 76 and finished T2 at 13-under.

Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti, Germany’s Jeremy Paul and Americans Keith Mitchell and Michael Thorbjornsen also tied for second place.

Sunday’s final round featured zero bogey-free rounds
