Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen fired a third-round 5-under 66 having made two bogeys to take the solo lead at 14-under into the final day at the Crown Australian Open.

The Dane, who also earned membership to the PGA Tour, won three time on the Challenge Tour in 2024 but has yet to win on the DP World Tour.

“I felt like I stayed true to my plan all week, which has been to stay patient,” said Neergaard-Petersen. “Obviously, it’s not really what you want there at the fifth. I’ve hit a great shot in there so walking away with a four obviously stung a bit.

“But I felt like I was able to kind of calm myself down, and then from there on in I felt like I played some really good golf.

“I’m really happy with the finish. I’ve been able to finish well here over the last couple of events, even in rounds, so it’s nice to finish off well today.”

Korean Si Woo Kim made one bogey for a 65 and takes a share of second place at 12-under alongside Australian Cam Smith who eagled the par-5 14th and made two bogeys for a 66 as well as Mexican Carlos Ortiz who shot a bogey-free 66 featuring an eagle at the par-4 3rd.

Portugal’s Daniel Rodrigues who shared the overnight lead made a bogey one bogey and one double bogey at the par-4 18th for a 3-over 71 and moved down into T15 at 6-under.

The leading three players not already exempt who make the cut in the Crown Australian Open will qualify for The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale.
