Patrick Reed poised for second win in three weeks

American Patrick Reed signed for a bogey-free 2-under 70 to reach 14-under and take a two-shot lead into the final day at the Qatar Masters.

A win on Sunday would be his second in three weeks having won at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January. He also finished T2 at last week’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship.

“I felt like I hit the ball better today than I did the last two days – well, really compared to yesterday, and shot two shots worse, so it’s an interesting game,” said Reed. A three-putt on the last obviously stings but to go round this place bogey-free, especially with how the wind was, it’s obviously successful.

“Hopefully we can continue to do that tomorrow, continue hitting the ball solid and giving ourselves a lot of birdie looks, and hopefully make a couple more than just two [birdies].

“The golf game feels good, it feels solid, it feels steady and really just got to go out there and keep the foot on the gas, get off to hopefully a faster start than today, and see where it goes.”

Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen fired five birdies and one bogey for a 68 and lies in second place at 12-under.

Spain’s Ángel Ayora made one bogey for a 70 and a share of third place at 11-under alongside New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier who made three bogeys for a 71.
