Jacob Bridgeman retains solo lead

The Genesis Invitational R3

Jacob Bridgeman

American Jacob Bridgeman started the day with a share of the lead at the Genesis Invitational and fired the low round of the day with an eagle at the par-5 11th, seven birdies and two bogeys to close with a 7-under 64, reach 19-under and take the solo lead into the final day.

He leads the field in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green (7.455), Strokes Gained: Approach The Green (7.156) and Strokes Gained: Putting (8.726).

“[Today] was, fun and easy. Kind of the best that the golf world ever gets. My swing felt nice and it was fun out there, everyone was cheering, so yeah, it was a good day,” said Bridgeman.

“I played great this whole week, so I don’t think it was a surprise to me that my game was the way it is. Yeah, I’ve said kind of the whole week I feel comfortable and I felt great today.

“Last week I played pretty good. I really struggled off the tee. I feel like I kind of faked it the whole week and somehow got up there with a chance to win, which was kind of encouraging for me. I felt like the rest of my game kind of overshadowed my bad driver last week, and this week I worked on it a lot. I drove it, in my standards, fairly well.

“I don’t know that a mindset really helped from week to week, but definitely everything else being really good last week helped this week.”

His 194 total matches Joaquin Niemann (2022) for the 54-hole tournament scoring record and marks his career low 54-hole score in stroke-play events on the PGA Tour (previous: 199/2026 American Express/T13, 2024 Wyndham Championship/T12).

He is one stroke shy of the largest 54-hole lead in tournament history (7 strokes/Arnold Palmer/1966) and matches the largest 54-hole lead this season (6 strokes/Justin Rose/Farmers Insurance Open).

Bridgeman holds his second 54-hole lead/co-lead on Tour (2025 Valspar Championship/finished 3rd). 19-under marks his lowest score in relation to par through 54 holes (17-under/2026 American Express).

He has recorded two top-10s in four starts this season (T4/Sony Open in Hawaii, T8/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am). His career-best result was T2 at the 2025 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.

Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland made one bogey and closed with a 69 to move into second place at 13-under which marks his low 54-hole score to par at the Genesis Invitational (previous best 54-hole score to par: 10-under, twice/2016, 2020. He has made the fewest bogeys of any player through three rounds (2).

He sits six strokes back, the largest 54-hole deficit overcome in his PGA Tour career: 6 strokes, twice/2022 Tour Championship, 2016 Dell Technologies Championship.

South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter eagled the par-5 first hole and made five birdies and two bogeys for a 65 to move into third place at 12-under. His T60 finish at last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was his first made cut in four starts this season.

England’s Aaron Rai who led after the first round made six birdies and one bogey to close with a 66 and lies in fourth place at 11-under.

American World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler posted rounds of 74-68-66 and lies in T22 at 6-under. His final-round scoring average in seven prior starts at the Genesis Invitational was 67.83. His positions after each round this week: R1/T63, R2/T42, R3/T22.
