Some of the most iconic links courses in Great Britain, Ireland and continental Europe will take centre stage in 2027 after The R&A confirmed venues for its amateur championships and international matches.
At the top of the bill, The Amateur Championship returns to Northern Ireland, with Royal Portrush set to host the 132nd edition from 14–19 June. Fresh from staging The Open Championship in 2025, Portrush will once again provide a formidable test, with stroke-play qualifying contested across both the Dunluce and Valley links before match play unfolds on the championship Dunluce course.

The Dunluce Links — a Harry Colt-designed seaside course renowned for its dramatic dunes and strategic challenge — is widely regarded as one of the world’s great links tests. It will be the fourth time Portrush has staged the championship, most recently in 2014, when Scotland’s Bradley Neil lifted the trophy.
Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Chief Championships Officer at The R&A, said:
“It is important for The R&A to continue to underline the status of our amateur championships and international matches as leading events in amateur golf.
“They provide a pathway for elite golfers and give life-changing opportunities, including those that offer exemptions to The Open and the AIG Women’s Open.
“We aim to attract the best amateur players from around the world in 2027 and look forward to staging our championships at some of the sport’s most prestigious venues.”
Royal Cinque Ports to stage Women’s Amateur Championship
Historic links venue hosts leading women amateurs in milestone year
England’s south-east coast will also be in the spotlight as the Women’s Amateur Championship heads to Royal Cinque Ports for the third time. The 124th edition marks the first return of the championship to Deal since 1988 and carries extra historical weight, coming 125 years after the venue first hosted the event in 1902.
Known to many as a Final Qualifying venue for The Open, Royal Cinque Ports will welcome the world’s leading women amateurs back to its classic links.
