Si Woo Kim holds on to lead

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson R3

South Korea’s Si Woo Kim

Si Woo Kim signed for a 3-under 68 featuring six birdies and three bogeys to reach 21-under and take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

“It was a tough day for me. Then 10, 11 I made a mistake. Then my caddie told me — after that my caddie told me, you’re in the rush. So you’ve got to calm down and try to think a couple more things,” said the Korean.

“After that, I made a birdie on 12 — 13? Yeah. I think 13 I make birdie. It really calms me down. Then turn it back to yesterday mood. I was thinking about too much scoring like first 10, 11 holes. So I’m just trying to be back to kind of like yesterday.

“Yeah, just trying to hit the good shots and trying to like all the mojo’s back.”

At 192, he tied his career-best 54-hole score on the PGA Tour (2016 Wyndham Championship/Won, 2020 Wyndham Championship/T3). Entering this week, he led all players with the most birdies on Tour since 2016 (3,776). He currently leads the field with 26 birdies through 54-holes.

“I never thought about it, this many birdies. But every hole is pretty much like can make a birdie. So I try to make as many as possible and also try to not make bogey. Then I have to make two birdies,” he added.

“Yeah, I think kind of have to be aggressive but not too crazy aggressive.”

Kim seeks his fifth PGA Tour title in his 315th start at the age of 30. He holds his eighth career 54-hole lead/co-lead and second this season (The American Express/finished T6). He is 2-for-7 converting to victory (2016 Wyndham Championship, 2021 American Express).

He notched six top-10 finishes in 14 starts this season with T2 at Farmers Insurance Open his best result.

American World No.1 Scottie Scheffler carded seven birdies and one bogey for a 65 and a share of second place at 19-under.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson champion seeks his 21st win in his 161st start. He has had 31 straight top-25 finishes on Tour; his last finish outside the top 25 was at the 2024 BMW Championship (T33).

American Wyndham Clark eagled the par-5 9th and made five birdies and one bogey for a 65 and his share of second place.

He seeks a fourth PGA Tour victory in his 201st start and first since the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Since his last victory Clark has recorded two runner-up finishes (2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational, 2024 Players Championship) but his last top-10 was T4 at last year’s Open Championship.

Germany’s Stephan Jaeger fired nine birdies and two bogeys for a 64 and a share of fourth place at 17-under alongside American Tom Hoge who eagled the par-5 9th and made seven birdies and four bogeys for a 66 and Korean Sungjae Im who fired six birdies and two bogeys for a 67.

American Blades Brown (T38/-8) is 42.553 points short of the threshold for Special Temporary Membership of the PGA Tour, which he can reach with a solo 21st this week. He earned a spot in the field this week via his top-10 finish at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic (T9) and currently lies in T38 at 8-under following a second-round 68 having made one bogey.
