Chart Hills Golf Club has been selected by The R&A as a Regional Qualifying venue for The 154th Open, with the event scheduled for 22 June 2026. Amateur and professional golfers will compete at the Kent parkland course for a place in Final Qualifying and a shot at earning a spot in The Open at Royal Birkdale.

The club said it was chosen as one of 16 venues across Great Britain and Ireland to host Regional Qualifying. As previously reported, Chart Hills was added as a 16th site after more than 2,100 golfers entered the first stage of qualifying for this year’s Open.

Players who advance through Regional Qualifying will move on to Final Qualifying on 30 June, which is being held at four venues: Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports, and West Lancashire. The 154th Open runs from 16 to 19 July at Royal Birkdale, with a new Last-Chance Qualifier staged on 13 July, offering one final place in the championship field.

Why Chart Hills

Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, Chart Hills sits in the Kent countryside and is ranked in Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in England. The course is known for bold, distinctive holes, including the par-5 fifth, “The Anaconda,” and the island-green par-3 17th. Undulating fairways and strategic bunkering make it a demanding championship test.

The club has undergone a multi-year investment programme that includes sandcapped fairways for year-round consistency, a full renovation of all 72 tee boxes on the Championship course, a new 668-square-metre putting green, and The Loop, a six-hole par-three course also designed by Faldo.

Anthony Tarchetti, General Manager at Chart Hills, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have been selected by The R&A as a Regional Qualifying venue for The 154th Open. To host one of golf’s most prestigious qualifying events is a testament to the quality of the golf course and the hard work of the entire team at Chart Hills.”

Tarchetti said the club looks forward to welcoming competitors from across Great Britain and Ireland and showcasing the course to top amateur and professional golfers.

Busy summer ahead

The selection adds to Chart Hills’ tournament schedule. Later this summer, the club will host the English Legends on the Staysure Legends Tour from 28 to 30 August, bringing another high-profile event to Kent.
