Basingstoke Golf Club Selected to Host 2027 Girls’ and Boys’ Home Internationals

The Hampshire club’s £20 million redevelopment earns it hosting rights for one of junior golf’s most prestigious team events, just weeks after its new course was officially opened.

Basingstoke Golf Club will host the 2027 Girls’ and Boys’ Home Internationals from August 2-5, bringing together the leading junior players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales for one of the most important team competitions on the amateur calendar.

The selection follows the Hampshire club’s £20 million transformation. It arrives just weeks after the redesigned course was officially opened by 1991 Masters champion Ian Woosnam and seven-time Solheim Cup player Charley Hull.

Why Basingstoke Was Chosen

James Crampton, championships director at England Golf, said: “Basingstoke has been selected to host the 2027 Boys’ & Girls’ Home Internationals in recognition of its exceptional facilities, forward-thinking redevelopment, and dedication to supporting the next generation of golfers. England Golf is confident the club will provide a superb stage for one of junior golf’s most important team competitions.”

Crampton also pointed to the event’s track record of producing professional stars. “The Home Internationals are a great opportunity for spectators to witness some of the upcoming stars of the game from GB&I, with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Lottie Woad having competed in previous editions of the event,” he said.

Organised by The R&A, the competition runs in a combined girls’ and boys’ format introduced in the early 2020s, with the four home nations competing over three days.

Basingstoke’s New Course

In 2021, following members’ vote to sell its original Kempshott Park home, Basingstoke Golf Club moved to Dummer. James Braid had designed the club’s 18-hole layout at Kempshott Park in 1926. Created by Weller Designs, the new par-72 championship downland course includes reconstructed greens, tees and bunkers, broad strategic fairways and Hampshire’s first creeping-bentgrass greens. An advanced irrigation system supports year-round playing conditions.

Complementing the course are the 1907 Academy, developed in partnership with SYNLawn UK and equipped with Trackman technology, a short-game area and a new clubhouse. The official opening took place on May 2, 2026.

David Green, general manager of Basingstoke Golf Club, said: “The Home Internationals consistently showcase some of the brightest talents in amateur golf, many of whom go on to achieve great success in the professional game. We are thrilled to be welcoming players, officials, families and spectators to Basingstoke in 2027 and are committed to delivering a memorable championship experience for everyone involved.”

Club History

Basingstoke Golf Club opened in 1907 as a nine-hole course before Braid expanded it to 18 holes at Kempshott Park. The parkland layout served members for nearly a century, with a new clubhouse built in the 1990s and a centenary celebration in 2007. The move to Dummer and the redevelopment that followed have recast the club as a championship-ready venue, with easy access from junction seven of the M3.

The August 2027 event will bring the best young golfers from across Great Britain and Ireland to Basingstoke’s new championship course.
