Jenny Shin Builds Five-Shot Lead at 2026 Women’s Scottish Open

The Korean followed her opening 66 with a five-under 67 at Dundonald Links, using sharp putting and 13 birdies across two rounds to separate herself from the field.

Jenny Shin opened a five-shot lead at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open after reaching 11-under through 36 holes at Dundonald Links on Friday.

The 33-year-old Korean followed Thursday’s 66 with a five-under 67, the lowest round of the second day. Germany’s Esther Henseleit sits alone in second on 6-under, with A Lim Kim another shot behind in third.

Shin began with a bogey after finding bushes at the first, but responded immediately with a birdie at the second. Further gains came at the fifth and eighth before consecutive birdies on 11 and 12, followed by another at the last.

Her two-round total has been built on 13 birdies, the most in the field, and 50 putts, the fewest among the players who reached the weekend. She has not made a three-putt through 36 holes.

“I never had a five-shot lead before,” Shin said. “I’m going to try and stay patient the next two days. It is Links golf.”

Shin has now recorded five consecutive under-par rounds at the tournament, the longest active streak in the event. This is the third time she has led or shared the lead after each of the opening two rounds, following the 2019 Dow Championship and 2023 LPGA Drive On Championship.

Her sole LPGA Tour victory came 10 years ago at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout presented by JTBC.

Henseleit Chases Shin’s Lead

Henseleit produced a bogey-free 68 containing an eagle and two birdies. She has made only two bogeys across the opening rounds and eagled the par-five third on both days, using a five-iron for her approach on Thursday and a five-wood on Friday.

“I was just very steady,” Henseleit said. “I didn’t really get into trouble off the tee. I hit a lot of greens, just had a lot of 25- to 30-footers, and a lot of two-putts.”

A Lim Kim remained third on 5-under after an even-par round featuring two birdies and two bogeys.

Pajaree Anannarukarn, Patty Tavatanakit, Erika Hara and 2024 champion Lauren Coughlin share fourth place. Anannarukarn moved into that group with a 69 despite cold, windy morning conditions.

Ina Yoon climbed to eighth on 3-under following a 68. Daniela Darquea and Mi Hyang Lee are tied for ninth at one under.

Hull and Korda Make the Cut

The cut was set at 6-over, with 65 players progressing. Defending champion Lottie Woad shot a second-round 70 to reach the weekend at level par.

Charley Hull and world No. 1 Nelly Korda both made the cut at 5-over. Hull recovered after recording a nine during her opening round, becoming the third player this season to make nine or worse on a hole and still qualify for the weekend.

Amateur Kiara Romero missed the cut by two shots, while Minjee Lee withdrew during the second round because of injury.

Saturday’s play begins at 7.20am local time. Shin will start her third round in the final group at 12.35pm.
