- Madinaty Golf Club will host the 13th annual World Golf Awards in New Cairo.
- The event will be the first World Golf Awards staged in Africa.
- The programme includes a gala ceremony and the World Golf Awards Classic.
Madinaty Golf Club will host representatives from the international golf and tourism industries when the World Golf Awards makes its African debut in November.
The Troon-managed club, located within the planned city of Madinaty on the eastern edge of New Cairo, will host the three-day programme from November 5–7. The gala ceremony on November 7 will conclude the three-day programme.
World Golf Awards Managing Director Chris Frost said the venue’s course, location and climate made it a suitable host for the event’s first visit to the continent.
“It is an honour for us to host World Golf Awards at Madinaty Golf Club for our inaugural event in Africa,” Frost said. “I greatly look forward to joining the finest organisations in golf tourism this November.”
Championship golf in New Cairo
The World Golf Awards Classic will be played on Madinaty’s 6,900-yard, par-71 championship course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the layout previously staged the Asian Tour International Series in 2022.
Jones has designed more than 290 courses across six continents during a career spanning more than six decades. In his interview with M. James Ward, he described an approach centred on strategic choices, varied teeing angles and playable green complexes for golfers of different abilities.
Madinaty Golf Club has already collected eight honours from the organisation whose ceremony it will now stage. It has been named Egypt’s Best Golf Course five times and Africa’s Best Golf Course on three occasions.
The wider venue includes a clubhouse with restaurants, swimming pools, a gym, spa and a multi-purpose terrace for social events. Its position near Cairo International Airport also gives visiting delegates a direct route into New Cairo.
The St. Regis New Capital, Cairo has been named the official accommodation partner and will hold the welcome reception.
Egypt’s golf tourism profile
TMG Golf owns Madinaty Golf Club as part of the broader Madinaty development. Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Business Development Officer at TMG, said hosting the ceremony reflected the company’s plans for golf and lifestyle destinations in Egypt.

The gathering will bring golf businesses, tourism organisations and destination representatives from around the world to Egypt, with visitors able to play the host course before the awards are presented on the final evening.

Troon’s management role
Troon manages Madinaty Golf Club as part of an international portfolio covering more than 950 locations in over 40 countries. The company began with a single facility in 1990.
