The La Sella Open has been reduced to 54 holes after heavy rain, thunder and lightning caused another suspension at the Dénia venue on Saturday.
Players returned at 8.30am local time to complete the second round, which had been halted by darkness on Friday evening. The restart was soon interrupted as conditions became too dangerous for play to continue.
Tournament officials reduced the Ladies European Tour event from four rounds to three. Round two eventually resumed at 3pm under sunny skies, with the cut still to be finalised before Sunday’s closing round.
Weather has disrupted every day of the tournament so far. Thursday’s opening round was suspended for two and a half hours after torrential rain flooded parts of the course, while Friday also included a delay of one hour and 40 minutes.
