INFINITUM has completed a multi-million-euro renovation of all 18 holes at The Hills on Spain’s Costa Dorada ahead of November’s DP World Tour Qualifying School.
Dave Sampson of European Golf Design led the work. The most conspicuous change is at the 18th, which now plays to an island-green-style finish against the course’s quarry backdrop.
The par-3 tenth has been lengthened and given a redesigned green complex. A new water feature has been added to the 15th, while the 15th and 16th holes have been reversed in the routing.
The front nine and new turf
The opening hole has switched from a left-to-right dogleg to a right-to-left one. The ninth has a new teeing ground and green complex, and the rockface around the eighth green has been altered. A new short-game facility provides putting and chipping areas.
INFINITUM has installed drought-resistant Bermuda 419 on the fairways and Zoysia around the bunkers. The resort says the grasses will reduce water and chemical use. Bunker refinements across the course are also intended to ease maintenance and change how the holes play.
Qualifying School in November
The renovation is the largest investment in The Hills since it opened in 2008. It follows the renovation of the neighbouring Lakes course in 2024. Set to take place at INFINITUM between November 6-11, the DP World Tour Qualifying School will offer a fitting showcase for the newly renovated courses, testing players on its enhanced design and strategic challenges.
