Nikkei cooking and a redesigned dining room strengthen the appeal of an overnight golf escape to Cromvoirt, where Bernardus pairs its championship course with an intimate Lodge.

  • Nami by Bernardus received a Michelin star at the Netherlands guide ceremony on 5 October 2026.
  • The recognition came less than six months after the restaurant’s relaunch from Noble Kitchen.
  • Bernardus hosted the 2026 Solheim Cup from 11 to 13 September.

Nami by Bernardus has received a Michelin star at the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Netherlands ceremony at MECC Maastricht, adding a high-profile dining attraction to the Dutch golf destination. For golfers planning a round on its Kyle Phillips-designed course, Nami offers another reason to stay for dinner.

The award follows Nami’s transformation from Noble Kitchen less than six months ago. Noble Kitchen had held a Michelin star since 2020, according to Dutch hospitality publication Entree, which reported its change to Nami on 2 May.

Nikkei Dining at Nami

Executive Head Chef Tom Schoonus leads the kitchen alongside chef Carlo Lago. Bernardus said the relaunch gave the restaurant a clearer Nikkei signature, bringing Japanese and South American influences together, and introduced an interior redesigned by Pieter Laureys.

Michelin’s inspectors describe the cooking as a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian traditions, pointing to plates such as red snapper ceviche, a taco of confit lamb neck with mole and spicy mayonnaise, and Argentine prawn sushi. Cooking on a robata grill adds another dimension to the menu.

Nami takes its name from the Japanese word for “wave”. Its redesigned dining room features warm lighting, a sculptural overhead installation and tall wine cabinets.

The restaurant also offers a Chef’s Table beside the kitchen and wine cabinet, accommodating groups of up to 16.

A Stay Beyond the Fairways

Bernardus sits in Cromvoirt, near the historic city of ’s-Hertogenbosch. Its championship course hosted the KLM Open in 2021, 2022 and 2023 before staging the Netherlands’ first Solheim Cup in September, when Europe beat the United States 15–13.

Golfers can play outside tournament week through the estate’s day-membership model. A driving range and dedicated short-game areas support the golf offering, while the on-site Bernardus Lodge has eight double rooms. Wellness facilities provide another way to spend time away from the course, and Bernardus Café offers a more casual dining option, including sandwiches and salads.

Nami is celebrating the award throughout October with a complimentary bite from the kitchen and a glass of Bernardus Sparkling Rosé 0.0 at the start of every visit.

GolfToday Verdict: Bernardus makes a stronger case for an overnight golf break, particularly for travellers who choose their dinner as carefully as their tee time.
