Englishman Eddie Pepperell made four birdies and two bogeys to sign for a 70 and retain a share of the lead at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Pepperell lost his DP World Tour card last season and missed out on regaining it at Qualifying School by one shot.
“I do think what I’m working on the last couple of days with my swing has certainly got legs,” said Pepperell. Let’s hope it’s got weekend legs on.
“I think it’s pretty good and I’ve just got to keep doing it.”
Hamish Brown fired a second consecutive 68 to reach 8-under and take a share of the lead.
The Danish rookie who graduated from the European Challenge Tour produced five birdies including three in-a-row from the 3rd, as well as a bogey.
“We’ve only played two rounds so there’s still a lot of golf left,” said Brown. But it’s nice, I didn’t doubt my level, to be good enough for this but it’s still nice to see and nice to do it even though I had a month off, not really playing too much golf.
“So last week was a bit rusty, I felt like, but it’s feeling better and better.”
Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen, the first Danish winner of The Amateur Championship at Ballyliffin last summer, fired six birdies and four bogeys for a 70 and a share of third place at 7-under alongside South African Christo Lamprecht whose round featured an eagle at the par-4 13th, six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey at the par-3 8th for a 68.
