Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra started the day tied for the lead and started his round with an eagle at the par-5 1st before firing six birdies and two bogeys for a 6-under 66. He leads the Alfred Dunhill Championship by two shots at 15-under heading into the weekend.
“There’s a lot of golf left,” said Chacarra. “It’s a course where people can go low and if you don’t have your best you can go high.
“So everyone can win, there’s a lot of guys out there.
“I’m just going to try to do my best, get a game plan with my caddie and I know if I execute and I play like I did these two days, I’m going to have a good chance coming out on Sunday.”
South African Jayden Schaper signed for a bogey-free 64 and lies in second place at 13-under followed in third place at 12-under by compatriot Branden Grace who made one bogey for a 67 and Englishman John Parry who also bogeyed once and closed with a 66.
South African Michael Hollick shot a 9-under, bogey-free 63 to move into a share of fifth place at 11-under alongside compatriots Oliver Bekker (one bogey, 67) and JC Ritchie (one bogey, 66).
