Bill Horschel birdied the 18th on a windy Saturday to close with a 71 and a share of the lead at 7-under at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

"We all knew the conditions were going to be tough today with the wind blowing. You knew it was going to be -- the greens are going to get very glassy, very frictionless. So you've just got to understand what a good golf shot is out there."

"Fooch and I, we were talking about going to the 1st tee, hey, we've just got to really be smart out there, commit to the shot we're trying to hit, and then at the end of -- after all that, we've got to accept whatever the turnout is and move on to the next shot.

"We did a really good job of that out there. So I'm really pleased with what Fooch and I did out there today."

Fellow American Talor Gooch bogeyed the 18th for his share of the lead after carding a 72.

"It was a grind out there," said Gooch. "The place was playing super, super difficult. The wind was whipping, and it was changing directions. When you have to be as precise as you have to be on this golf course, the little wind changes make a huge difference. So it was a grind."

Overnight leader Viktor Hovland of Norway, who started the day with a two-shot lead, signed for a 75 and moved back into third place at 6-under.

"I managed to kind of stay in it," said Hovland. "I missed on the right sides, and the bad shots only cost a bogey and not double or worse to really take me out of the tournament. That's kind of the only positive for today."

American Scottie Scheffler is the only player in the top-5 who carded a sub-70 round in spite of three consecutive bogeys from the 7th to close with a 68.
