Daniel Brown fired a 7-under 65 featuring an eagle at the par-4 16th, six birdies and one bogey to take a one-shot lead at 16-under heading into the final day of the BMW International Open.
“I felt I got away with a couple of shots today where I was being sensible, middle of the green and pushed or pulled them – it wasn’t as controlled as yesterday, but played nicely coming in.
“I didn’t feel like I was under any pressure all day. I felt pretty relaxed and having a laugh and joke with my caddie, and then I said to him on the 18th green, ‘this is for a 29’, and then I left it [eagle putt] short…
“I’ve not really thought about it [winning the tournament], trying not to get upset. Something happened last week at home, win or lose tomorrow… I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve not really thought about it.”
England’s Jordan Smith made one bogey and closed with a 66 to move into second place at 15-under ahead of the Netherlands’ Joost Luiten who made on bogey and shot a 65.
Overnight leader Davis Bryant of the USA made four birdies and four bogeys for a 72 and moved down into a share of fourth place at 12-under alongside Japan’s Yuto Katsuragawa who made an eagle at the par-5 9th, four birdies and three bogeys for a 69 and Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen who made an eagle at the par-4 16th and two bogeys for a 67
