Keita Nakajima carded a second 65 to move to 7-under and take the clubhouse lead at the Hero Indian Open before play was suspended for the day due to lightning.
The Japanese player fired five consecutive birdies from the 4th and made three more on the back nine, as well as three bogeys and an eagle at the par-5 18th.
“I’m comfortable. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. The birdie on the 17th was big for me because I made the three bogeys before. It was good, the birdie-eagle finish.
“The back nine is more tricky, the front nine you can be more aggressive. Two more days and I’ll try my best.”
Nakajima is playing in his rookie season on the DP World Tour after topping the Order of Merit on the Japan Golf Tour last season.
France’s Romain Langasque fired another 66 featuring an eagle at the par-5 8th as well as seven birdies and three bogeys to move into second place at 12-under.
A further shot behind lies Italy’s Matteo Manassero who produced two eagles at the par-5 8th and the par-4 17th as well as three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey at the 18th.
France’s Jeong weon Ko carded a second 67 featuring a hole-out eagle at the par-4 1st hole to take a share of fourth place at 10-under alongside the Netherlands’ Joost Luiten who is 3-under for the round through the 15th.
