Rory McIlroy opened with a 66 on Thursday in the Bahamas to take a share of the lead alongside American Daniel Berger and Mexican Abraham Ancer.

The Northern Irishman's form has been good recently, he won the CJ Cup in Las Vegas in October and held the lead through 68 holes in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai two weeks ago.

“I wish it was a different time of the year the way I'm playing,” said McIlroy. “But there's no reason why I can't pick up again in January and keep playing the way I'm playing. I'm still going to keep myself ticking over these next few weeks. I'm not going to completely shut the clubs away. … My game's in good shape and I want to keep it there.”
