LA Open 2021 R2
April 21-24
Wilshire Country Club, Los Angeles, California
$1,500,000
Round 1, Round 3, Round 4

Jessica Korda followed up her 7-under 65 on the first day with a 6-under 66 on Thursday. At the rate she is going, the 28-year-old who won the season's first event at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions might just win at Wilshire Country Club after leading all four days and also become the first LPGA Tour of the 2021 season to win multiple times.

“I mean, you're just plotting your way around the golf course and trying to be smart where we keep it,” said Korda, who set the 36-hole scoring record, the eighth time she has held or shared the 36-hole lead.

“I got above the hole on a couple holes and they're not easy putts, so you can definitely get out of position really easily out here, so we've been pretty smart. My caddie Kyle and I are just trying to plot our way around, be maybe sometimes boring but play smart .”

South Koreans and top-10 Rolex Rankings players No. 1 Jin Young Ko and No. 3 Sei Young Kim trailed closely behind with their respective two-day totals of 10-under 132, and 9-under 133.

Although an unfortunate bogey on the 17th prevented Ko from having a bogey-free round, the 7-time LPGA Tour champion actually found it acceptable given her two mishits into the rough followed by hazard.

“I had a really great bogey, I think. When I was putting the ball, it was moving so I thought it's going to be a penalty so I was a little disappointed. I checked with rules after 18 and she then said, ‘No, you don't need to take penalty so you're fine,'” said Ko. “My mind was like, ‘Oh, my God, if a penalty I got double.' But she said ‘no, you don't need to take,' so, okay, good bogey.”

Two players are tied for fourth at 8-under, 2020 VOA Classic champion and American Angela Stanford and Canadian 9-time LPGA Tour winner Brooke Henderson. Tiffany Chan leads for the USC Trojans at a total of 7-under 135, as well as Ryann O'Toole for the UCLA Bruins at 3-under 139.
