Jessica Korda carded six birdies and three bogeys for a third round 68 to reach 16-under in the HUGEL Air Premia LA Open.

LA Open 2021 R3

"I'm just trying to be patient," said Korda. "It's tough. It's tough to win out here. Still have 18 holes left and I just want to give myself an opportunity to win."

Having matched the event course record with a 64 in the first round and broken the 36-hole scoring record at 13-under, Korda has now broken the 54-hole record of 11-under set by Minjee Lee in 2019, even though she struggled more on Friday.

"Honestly, it's just hitting it in the right spots. Pins were definitely tougher today than they have been the last two days, more tucked, so it was hard to be aggressive on a lot of them."

LA Open 2021 R3

Jin Young Ko shot nine birdies and four bogeys, closing her round with a 30-foot bogey putt at the 18th for a 66 to lie one-behind Korda.

"I knew that she was going to come out and play great," said Korda. "That's what she does being world No. 1. You wouldn't expect anything less. I was just trying to play my own game, and that's exactly what I'm going to try to do tomorrow."

LA Open 2021 R3

Brooke Henderson is in third place at 11-under after recovering from her double bogey at the sixth with six birdies to close with a 67.

“When you have bad holes, it is really important to stay patient and keep doing what you are doing,” said Henderson. “I didn't really do anything wrong, just kind of one shot that got away from us and ended up making a big number. Tried to stay in the moment and continue to hit good shots. I think it's important to get birdies back right away, and nice we were able to do that.”
