Michael La Sasso became the youngest winner in LIV Golf history after a final-round 65 secured his first professional victory at LIV Golf Indianapolis.
The 22-year-old HyFlyers GC rookie finished at 18-under at The Club at Chatham Hills, one shot ahead of 2026 Individual Champion Jon Rahm. Legion XIII claimed the Team Championship for the second consecutive season, beating the HyFlyers by six shots.
La Sasso wins on the final hole
La Sasso began the week with a tie for 12th as his only previous top-30 result on LIV Golf. He completed rounds of 71, 60, 66 and 65 in Indianapolis, then birdied the par-5 18th to hold off Rahm’s late charge.
The American had told a HyFlyers social media staff member on Saturday evening that he expected to win. His prediction held up despite Rahm applying pressure throughout the closing round.
“I don’t even know what to say,” La Sasso said. “I’m shaking if I’m being honest. It was unbelievable. I thought I played great all day and just kind of waited for my moment, and it finally came on the last. Pretty funny.”
La Sasso’s parents were at the course to watch him collect his first professional title. Friends had considered flying to Indianapolis before the final round, but he told them he planned to win whether they arrived or not.
Rahm’s 63 falls one shot short
Rahm started Sunday at 10-under and produced a seven-under 63, matching Richard T. Lee for the lowest round of the day. The Legion XIII captain reached 17-under before making bogey from the fairway on the final hole.
“Today I played just as good as I’ve felt all week; the only difference was putts were going in,” Rahm said. “Michael played great and he deserved it. That up-and-down on 18 showed he wanted it more, so he deserved it.”
Sergio Garcia and Bryson DeChambeau shared third place at 16-under after rounds of 65 and 64 respectively. Lee’s 63 lifted him to 15-under, where he finished alongside Scott Vincent and Laurie Canter.
DeChambeau gained ground on the back nine but could not close the remaining gap. He said the putts did not fall often enough, describing golf as “a game of inches,” while crediting Rahm for recovering from an opening 67 to contend.
Legion XIII turns narrow lead into six-shot win
Legion XIII entered the final round one shot ahead and posted a 10-under team score of 270. Its 44-under tournament total delivered a six-shot victory over HyFlyers GC, with Ripper GC third at 36-under and 4Aces GC fourth at 32-under.
Rahm’s 63 drove the winning total, while Tom McKibbin contributed a 67. Tyrrell Hatton and Caleb Surratt each returned an even-par 70, giving Legion XIII four counting performances as it pulled away.
“It’s been great getting to spend time with these three,” McKibbin said. “To do it two years in a row has been great.”
The win followed Rahm’s third consecutive Individual Championship and gave Legion XIII another team crown. Fireballs GC player Josele Ballester received the Aramco Power Player of the Year award.
