Congaree Golf Club, Ridgeland, South Carolina
$7,300,000
Round 1, Round 3, Round 4

Chesson Hadley shot a 5-under 66 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead in the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. His 36-hole 11-under 131 score is his lowest total since the RSM Classic in 2016.

Hadley's good form this week comes as a surprise after missing the cut in ten of his last twelve starts.

“I definitely didn't see this coming,” he said.

Palmetto Championship 2021 R2

He took a three week break after his fifth straight miss at last month's Byron Nelson.

"I missed all those cuts in a row, and thank goodness I had three weeks off just to kind of hit the reset switch, get out on the boat, and just kind of forget about some things and spend some time with some family.”

“Obviously, we're a long way from the winner's circle. I'm so thankful to just feel that again, like I belong out here type of thing.”

Behind him is Dustin Johnson who was tied for the lead after the 17th but double bogeyed the par-4 18th and signed for a 68. In spite of that Johnson's 9-under 133 is his best 36-hole total since he won the Travelers Championship in June 2020.

“I feel like I'm playing really well. So got a lot of confidence in what I'm doing.”

“For me, it's all about the misses. If you can keep your misses in play or on the right side of holes, it makes the game a lot easier.”

Johnson has had his own run of bad form recently, missing the cut at the Masters and the PGA Championship.

Palmetto Championship 2021 R2

PGA Tour newcomer Tain Lee signed for a 68 after eight birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey at the par-3 5th to lie in third place at 7-under.

Overnight leader West Roach failed to make any birdies but did produce six bogeys for a 77 to slip down the leaderboard to T29 at 1-under.

Brooks Koepka, in his first start since he came second at the PGA Championship, struggled through both rounds (72-73) and missed the cut.
