Jesper Svensson has won his first DP World Tour title in a playoff at the Porsche Singapore Classic after matching the course record with a final-round 63 featuring two eagles at the par-5s 3rd and 14th, eight birdies and three bogeys to reach 17-under.
Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat eagled the par-4 18th for a 64 to join the Swede in a playoff.
Both players birdied, then parred but Aphibarnrat bogeyed the third extra hole to leave Svensson two putts for the par and the win.
“It’s been a lot of good golf so it was nice to finally come out on top,” said Svensson. “It’s very hard to win so it’s really nice.
“It’s been a long journey. To win on my first season out here, I couldn’t have dreamt of it. It’s always been a dream to be a winner on the DP World Tour and to achieve it feels amazing.
“Combined with Challenge Tour last year and the beginning of this season I’ve had five second-place spots in the last year. I really wanted to come out on top here.
“There was a couple of times today I told Lucky, my caddie… on 14 we were thinking about laying up we both said ‘no, we’re not finishing second again’ and it was the best shot of the week.”
England’s Sam Bairstow took third place at 16-under with a fourth consecutive 68 followed at 15-under by compatriot Andy Sullivan who carded a 69 and a shot further back by France’s Matthieu Pavon who shot a 67.
