- Quinta do Lago has entered GOLF.com’s Top 100 Resorts in the World for the first time.

Quinta do Lago has made its debut in GOLF.com’s Top 100 Resorts in the World, earning recognition for its golf courses, accommodation, hospitality and broader visitor experience.
The Algarve destination joins fellow Portuguese newcomer Terras da Comporta in the 2026 ranking, which was published on September 15 and featured 21 first-time entries.
Quinta do Lago CEO Sean Moriarty said the resort views the selection as an opportunity to reach more travelling golfers, including GOLF.com’s large audience in the United States.
“To be recognised by GOLF.com and included in its Top 100 Resorts in the World list is a tremendous honour for the entire Quinta do Lago team and reflects the continued investment and ambition behind the resort,” Moriarty said.
“The magazine has an incredibly knowledgeable and engaged golf audience, particularly in the US, so this recognition is an exciting opportunity to introduce Quinta do Lago to more American golfers looking to experience the very best of European golf and resort living.”
Three Championship Courses in the Algarve
Founded in 1972, Quinta do Lago occupies 2,000 acres within the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Its golf offering comprises the South Course, North Course and Laranjal, supported by the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and TaylorMade Performance Centre.
The South Course has staged the Portuguese Open eight times, most recently in 2001. Its tree-lined routing, water hazards and sandy terrain have helped establish it as the resort’s best-known tournament layout.
The North Course reopened in October 2014 following a €9.6 million redevelopment led by American architect Beau Welling in collaboration with former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. The redesign placed greater emphasis on strategy and precision.
Quinta do Lago’s 2026 junior schedule includes summer camps, the Paul McGinley Junior Cup and the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship final.
Accommodation, Sport and Dining
Beyond the courses, Quinta do Lago offers hotels, villas and apartments, along with 14 bars and restaurants. The Campus provides a dedicated sports and wellness hub, while the resort’s position near Faro Airport supports short-haul access from the UK and continental Europe.
Moriarty said the combination of golf and non-golf facilities remains central to the resort’s development.

The listing adds to several other awards. Quinta do Lago is ranked fifth in Golf World and Today’s Golfer’s Top 100 Resorts in Continental Europe. At the 2025 World Golf Awards, it was named World’s Best Golf Real Estate Venue and Europe’s Best Golf Venue, while the World Travel Awards named it Portugal’s Leading Resort.
