  • The Young Leaders category is open only to golf industry leaders under the age of 40.

Seehachet Saifon, known throughout the game in Thailand as Pro It, has been named the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s Young Leader, an award for his work in growing golf at Robinswood Golf Club in greater Bangkok.

The prize was announced at the AGIF Annual International Summit, held at the KLGCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The category is restricted to leaders under 40 and rewards impact through leadership, innovation, sustainability, education or community development.

From the producer’s chair to the GM’s office

Pro It is a golf professional, but his route into club management ran through television. He spent more than 15 years in golf and sports media, including a spell as a producer with Golf Channel, before joining Robinswood in 2020.

That background shows in how the club runs its calendar. Under his watch Robinswood has staged the Ambassador Cup, which brought diplomats from around the world to Lam Luk Ka, and Neon Night, an evening of golf, entertainment and family activities on the club’s floodlit par-three course. Members have also been able to meet leading professionals and attend the televised Reignwood Icons of Football, while the club has used digital content to show club life to a wider audience.

This year alone, Thongchai Jaidee, Jeev Milkha Singh, Jeeno Thitikul and Anthony Kim have all visited, typically paired with members rather than kept apart in their own groups.

“Pro It brings a different perspective to golf club management, drawing on his experience as a golf professional and in media to find new ways to engage with members and introduce people to the game,” said Stuart Daly, the club’s chief operating officer.

Daly added that Pro It encourages staff to develop their skills and take responsibility, and that this shows in the experiences they deliver to members and guests.

Pro It himself called it “recognition of the entire team” at the club.

“What makes me most proud is seeing our team grow, take ownership and bring these ideas to life,” he said. “This award belongs to everyone who has been part of that journey.”

Wentworth’s sister club

Robinswood is an 18-hole championship course within Reignwood Park, a 2,000-rai development in Lam Luk Ka combining housing, education, wellness and sport. It sits in Reignwood Group’s golf portfolio alongside Wentworth Club in Surrey and Reignwood Pine Valley in Beijing, and members enjoy reciprocal playing rights across all three. This year’s Robinswood club champion, Chaiyatat Ben Bunjapamai, earned an invitation to the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth.

The club is also home to the Claude Harmon III Performance Golf Academy Thailand. Through a partnership with KIS International School Reignwood Park, young golfers can live, study, train and play on site, combining structured coaching and competition with an International Baccalaureate education, with support for tournament planning, performance tracking and university recruitment.
