October 08-11
TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada
$7,000,000
Round 1, Round 2, Round 4

Patrick Cantlay started the weekend in a five-way tie but was left four shots behind before he even started his round on Saturday in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

By the end of his round Cantlay and Martin Laird, who had also been part of the tie heading into the weekend, had both played 6-under 65 and were tied for the lead again at 20-under 193.

โ€œI have had good rounds every day, so I'm not going to change anything,โ€ said Laird. โ€œIt's been working and I'm in a good spot, so just keep going.โ€

They both won their first title at this tournament and have both finished runner-up there as well and are well aware of the plentiful birdie opportunities.

โ€œI'm sure by the time I get to the golf course the lead will already be more than 20 under, which is what it's going to be around here. I think my strategy out here is to stay patient because I know there are so many birdie opportunities instead of pressing or feeling like I'm trailing, and realize that they're out there if I hit good shots.โ€

Bryson DeChambeau, who has been in such good form lately, hit a pair of double bogeys and back-to-back bogeys early in his round and was 5 over before the seventh hole. He recovered and finished with a 71 but was left seven shots behind the leaders with a packed leaderboard ahead of him.

โ€œYeah, it was really weird,โ€ he said. โ€œI don't know. It's golf, right? Didn't really hit bad shots, just didn't go where I wanted to. Went into some really bad places and unfortunately didn't save par from them. Just stuff didn't go my way today, and it's OK. Not a big deal.โ€

Matthew Wolff made the cut on Friday by one shot and made up for it with three eagles in five holes in his back nine coming in in 8-under 28 on Saturday. He closed with a 61 and a tie for third place.

Only five players have made three eagles on the front or back nine in a round on Tour since 1983. Wolff is the first since 2006. The others are Willie Wood in 1990, Tag Ridings in 2005 and Jason Gore and Arjun Atwal in 2006.
