Trump Turnberry has put a price on a winter of practice. Its new Winter Academy Programme costs £499 and bundles coaching, simulator and range time and links golf into a five-month package based at the resort’s Golf Academy on the Ayrshire coast.
The programme runs from November 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, and the resort is pitching it at golfers who want to keep playing through the dark months and arrive at the new season with something to show for it.
What’s in the package?
Each participant gets three 45-minute lessons with one of Turnberry’s PGA Professionals, intended to target the weakest parts of their game and set up a practice plan around their own goals.
The practice allowance is substantial: four one-hour sessions on the Trackman iO simulator and 12 one-hour sessions on the covered Trackman Range. Programme holders can bring up to three guests to each of those sessions, with the indoor and covered options meant to keep golf going when daylight runs short.
On the course, the package includes four rounds on King Robert the Bruce, the 7,203-yard championship layout that runs alongside the Ailsa, with views towards Turnberry Lighthouse, Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran. Up to three guests can join each round for £50 per person.
The short-game side is covered by 12 rounds on the Wee Links Pitch & Putt and use of the Cairngorms putting and chipping green.
There are hospitality extras too: an invitation to a Winter Academy Social Night with indoor golf and food, and 20 per cent off food and drink at the Academy Café.
The small print
King Robert the Bruce rounds are available Sunday to Friday, with Sunday tee times starting at 11am, so Saturdays are out. Golf, simulator and range sessions can be booked up to seven days in advance.
Guests must be accompanied by the programme holder, and each guest can use the £50 green fee no more than three times over the winter.
The Ailsa, the four-time Open venue that reopened in June 2025 after Martin Ebert’s redesign work, is not part of the deal. Neither is Trump’s Twelve, the 12-hole par-3 course that opened in August and has since been folded into the Academy’s coaching set-up.
Why winter?
“Winter is a good time to work on the parts of the game that can be difficult to address during a busy playing season,” said Alistair Kyle, Turnberry’s Golf Academy Manager. “Having lessons, regular practice sessions and rounds on King Robert the Bruce within one package gives golfers a clear way to do that.”
He also pointed to the guest allowance as a way to get people to keep turning up.
“Being able to bring friends along to the range or simulator makes practice more sociable, while the coaching helps give each session a purpose,” Kyle said.
Turnberry is around an hour from Glasgow International Airport and two hours from Edinburgh.
