Trump Turnberry will host Scottish sporting figures from football, rugby, cycling and curling at the Turnberry Titans Celebrity Charity Golf Day and Lunch on October 22.
The Ayrshire event aims to raise £50,000 for Whiteleys Retreat, Honeypot Children’s Charity and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Further sporting names are expected to be announced before the event.
Former Scotland football manager Steve Clarke and Sir Kenny Dalglish head the football contingent. Record-breaking Scotland rugby captain Greig Laidlaw will attend alongside fellow international Bryan Redpath, while four-time Olympic cycling medallist Jack Carlin and world champion curler Hammy McMillan join the confirmed line-up.
Broadcaster Eilidh Barbour, former European Tour winner and commentator Andrew Murray, and speaker and charity auctioneer Alex Fleming will host the day.
Three golf options at Turnberry
Teams can choose between the Ailsa, King Robert the Bruce and Trump’s Twelve, with each package including lunch in the resort’s Grand Ballroom.
A fourball on the Championship Ailsa course costs £1,500. Each team will be joined by a sporting celebrity for the round before attending the three-course lunch.
The King Robert the Bruce package costs £800 per fourball. The championship course is ranked 48th in Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.
A £500 fourball package is available on Trump’s Twelve, the resort’s new 12-hole par-three layout. Its holes range from 70 to 206 yards, and competitors will have the chance to play for a £10,000 hole-in-one prize.
Trump’s Twelve opened on August 10 on land formerly occupied by the Arran Course. Multiple teeing grounds, undulating greens, water hazards and varied surrounds allow the short course to test anything from controlled wedge shots to long irons or hybrids.
Lunch, interviews and charity auction
After golf, guests will gather in the Grand Ballroom for interviews with former Scotland footballer Kris Boyd, Carlin, Clarke and other sporting guests. A charity auction will follow the lunch.
Nic Oldham, general manager at Trump Turnberry, said the choice of formats would allow teams to select the course best suited to them while supporting the charities.
“We have set an ambitious target of £50,000 and look forward to golfers, businesses and supporters from across Scotland and beyond joining us on October 22.”
Overnight accommodation is available from £330 per room, per night. Trump Turnberry is around one hour from Glasgow International Airport and two hours from Edinburgh.
