Max Homa closed with a 68 on Sunday to reach 8-under and wins a second Wells Fargo Championship title by two shots.

“It’s a hard golf course. It was windy early. It calmed down a bit at the
end, or in the middle and got it back up at the end.

“I don’t know, I was in Alabama last week with my coach, Mark Blackburn. We put in a lot of good work. Game’s been good and we were just talking most about mental, just being confident. He said, when are you going to start to believe in yourself? I said, well, I guess maybe today. So I’ve just been trying to walk around and fake it a little bit. Honestly, it’s funny how that fake it till you make it thing, I started to believe it and I showed up on that first tee very confident today.”

The American’s fourth PGA Tour win, the third in the past fifteen months, moves him up to sixth in the FedEx Cup Standings.

“It feels really good. Obviously seen some low spots on this tour and for the last three years now kind of finding my stride and racking up four wins is crazy. I think I was at TPC Scottsdale practicing in the back of the range a random day, Notah Begay happened to be back there so we were chatting.

“He said he was doing some Champions Tour stuff coming up and he had just mentioned that you qualified by having four wins. I was like, man, that’s crazy, that feels like a lot of wins. Then I realized I was one away. So oddly, in the back of my head, I said I could really use a fourth win. It just feels good. Career’s kind of settling down and I’m settling into myself as a golfer.”

He becomes the fourth player to have multiple wins this season following his win in the Fortinet Championship in September. The others are Scottie Scheffler (4), Hideki Matsuyama (2), Sam Burns (2) and Cameron Smith (2).

England’s Matt Fitzpatrick closed with a 67 for a share of second place at 6-under alongside overnight leader Keegan Bradley (72) and his fellow American Cameron Young (66).

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy finished fifth at 4-under after a final round 68.
