Australian Jason Day shot a 67 on a rainy Friday at the Wells Fargo Championship to retain his lead at 10-under.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s nice to be back in the mix, nice to be leading. It’s still two more days left, so I can’t get too far ahead of myself,” said Day.

“When you have conditions like this, it's really hard to commit to a shot because you’re going in there and you’re doing it kind of a lot quicker than your normal pre-shot routine. You have to force yourself to hit the shot and trust that.”

The scoring average climbed to 72.6, three shots higher than on Thursday with more rain and strong winds expected on Saturday.

American Max Homa signed for a 66 to move into solo second at 7-under followed by compatriots Luke List (66), James Hahn (68), Kurt Kitayama (67) and Denny McCarthy (69) in third at 6-under.

"I thought I played awesome for two days," said Homa. "Yesterday I played a really great round of golf and messed it up with probably just a bad decision off the tee and then a few bad shots in a row. But I've played great. I've hit the ball really well, I've hit my driver well, I've hit my irons great, I've made a ton of putts the last 27 holes. When I've been in trouble, I've kind of managed for the most part to get myself out of it. Yeah, I'm proud of the start, for sure. The game feels really good."
