131 marks his career-low 36-hole score on the PGA Tour (previous: 132/2024 Puerto Rico Open, 2024 American Express) and 63 is his low 18-hole score in 208 career rounds.
Hisatsune finished T2 at last week’s Farmers Insurance Open, his best career finish in 65 starts. He seeks his first career 36-hole lead/co-lead.
He entered the week No. 4 in the Aon Swing 5 standings, with the top five after this week’s WM Phoenix Open qualifying for the first two Signature Events of the season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational. He has had one career start in a Signature Event (2025 RBC Heritage/T18).
Hisatsune, a third-year Tour member, finished No. 95 in the 2025 FedExCup Fall standings to retain exempt status for 2026. He first earned his card for the 2024 season via the 2023 DP World Tour Top 10 (No. 10).
He was named the 2023 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year on the DP World Tour, the first player from Japan to win the award.
Two-time WM Phoenix Open champion (2016, 2017) Hideki Matsuyama of Japan bogeyed his final hole at the 9th and made eight birdies for a 64. He lies in second place at 10-under.

He re-earned exempt status on Tour for 2026 by finishing No. 12 in the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List. He currently sits atop the Aon Swing 5 standings in search of his first start in a Signature Event.
England’s John Parry fired eight birdies and three bogeys for a 66 and a share of fifth place at 7-under. The 39-year-old PGA Tour rookie earned his membership for 2026 after finishing fifth in the 2025 DP World Tour Top 10. He posted seven top-10s on the DP World Tour in 2025, including a win at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, his second career DP World Tour title and first since 2010.
After a 2-over 73 in round one, Korean Si Woo Kim is T5 after posting a 9-under 62, having made a bogey on his opening hole and an eagle at the par-5 13th, for his low 18- hole score in 36 career rounds at TPC Scottsdale (previous: 66, twice).
American Sahith Theegala made three birdies, one bogey and for the second time in his career (2026 American Express/R2) two eagles, at the par-5s 3rd and 13th. He entered the week with top-10s in each of his last two starts on Tour (T8/The American Express, T7/Farmers Insurance Open). He has had two top-five finishes in his four previous starts at the WM Phoenix Open (T3/2022, 5th/2024).
American Akshay Bhatia carded a bogey-free 67 featuring an eagle at the par-5 13th to join the tie for third place alongside England’s Matt Fitzpatrick who made three bogeys and closed with a 70.
After opening with a 73, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the USA posted a bogey-free 65 and sits seven strokes back of the lead at T28. Scheffler has won twice when trailing by seven or more strokes through 36 holes (9 strokes/2022 WM Phoenix Open, 8 strokes/2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational).
Compatriot and two-time WM Phoenix Open champion (2015, 2021) Brooks Koepka posted rounds of 75-69 to miss the cut.
