Joohyung Kim carded a 64 on Friday to take a share of the lead at 9-under in the Wyndham Championship.

Wyndham Championship 2022 R2

Kim has been on good form lately finishing third in the Scottish Open and seventh at last week Rocket Mortgage Classic. He recovered well from starting this event with a quadruple bogey at the first hole on Thursday and is hoping for a win on Sunday to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs which would grant him instant PGA Tour membership.

"If you would have told me after the first hole yesterday where I’d be after two days, I definitely would have taken it, so pretty happy,” said the 20-year-old South Korean player.

“It’s just one bad hole,” he said. “Told myself, ‘You know what? I’ve got plenty of holes to bring it back if I just play well on my next 35 holes.’ And that’s exactly what I did. I played better than I thought I was going to, so it’s a bonus.”

Tied alongside him are Americans Brandon Wu who carded a 67 and Ryan Moore who closed with a 66.

Overnight leader John Huh carded a 71 to move back into a share of fourth place at 8-under with fellow American Russell Henley (65) and South Korean Sungjae Im (69).

Play was suspended due to darkness after a late-afternoon storm led to a delay. The second round will resume at 6:45 a.m.
