Local favourite Rasmus Højgaard made a good start in his title defence attempt at the Danish Golf Championship firing an eagle at the par-5 1st hole, five birdies and a bogey to close with a 6-under 65 and a two-shot lead.
“I’m very pleased with it. It wasn’t easy out there but I managed to keep the ball in play for most of the round and rolled some good putts,” said the Dane.
“I really enjoy [playing at home]. I thought the support was quite good for a Thursday morning.
“I’m looking forward to going home, having a nice dinner and sleeping in my own bed tonight.”
New Zealand’s Sam Jones, Germany’s Jannik de Bruyn and France’s Frederic Lacroix are tied in second place at 4-under.
England’s John Parry, Brandon Robinson Thompson and Joe Dean are part of a six-way tie for fifth place at 3-under.
