Tamburlini Still on Top at Midway Mark of Hero Women’s Indian Open

Fifteen straight pars kept the Swiss two clear in Delhi, with Pranavi Urs and Magdalena Simmermacher joining her in Saturday’s final group.

  • Chiara Tamburlini leads the Hero Women’s Indian Open after 36 holes.
  • India’s Pranavi Urs and Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher are two shots back.
  • Ojaswini Saraswat, 13, became the youngest player to make the cut in the event’s history.

Chiara Tamburlini, who opened with a 67, added a 1-under round to reach 6-under. Starting at the par-4 10th, she birdied it, then parred everything until the par-5 8th, where she found water and bogeyed for the second day running. A birdie at the 9th restored her lead at the halfway stage of the Hero Women’s Indian Open at DLF Golf & Country Club in Delhi.

“It was definitely a bit more stressful than yesterday,” Tamburlini said. “I made 15 pars in a row, and they weren’t all tap-in pars, but I made them so that was good. My putter was really good to make pars, but it wasn’t very good to make any birdies.”

The 2024 LET Order of Merit winner is chasing a fourth Ladies European Tour title in only her sixth LET start of 2026, having spent most of the season on the LPGA. Her last appearance on the circuit was at the AIG Women’s Open in July.

“I haven’t been in contention on the LPGA this year,” she said. “It’s been a bit more difficult this year, so it’s really nice to be up there again.”

Urs grinds through illness

Pranavi Urs, who won Asian Games gold in Japan three weeks ago, was still feeling unwell but shot a 2-under 70 to move into Saturday’s final group. She bogeyed her opening hole, the 10th, before birdies at the 2nd, 5th and 8th.

“It was a grind out there today,” Urs said. “We played together last year as well, so it’s always nice to go out and play with good players. Obviously, she’s the 2024 Order of Merit winner, so it’ll be a good battle.”

Simmermacher, who had made only three cuts in 2026 before this week, followed her opening 68 with an even-par round that included birdies at the 12th, 15th and 7th, a bogey at the 14th and a double-bogey at the 4th. The Argentine credited her caddie, Mossy Prendiville.

“I told him you’re giving me this [freedom] to enjoy myself on the course again,” she said. “Before it would be about everything else and practicing, but when the tournament came, I was very anxious.”

Eagles for Chevalier and Kapoor

Sara Kouskova, runner-up in Korea last time out, shares fourth place on 3-under with Norway’s Dorthea Forbrigd and France’s Camille Chevalier. Chevalier, the 2017 champion here, holed out for eagle at the par-5 18th.

DLF member Vani Kapoor went one better for shot of the day, holing a 5-wood for eagle at the par-4 14th. She and France’s Ariane Klotz are tied seventh on 2-under.

A 13-year-old makes history

Ojaswini Saraswat became the youngest player to make the cut at the Hero Women’s Indian Open. She is also the second-youngest to make the weekend at any LET event, behind Ariya Jutanugarn, who did it aged 12 at the 2008 Finnair Masters.

Darkness left one round unfinished. Alexandra Swayne of the US Virgin Islands sits on the cut line at nine over and returns on Saturday morning to play her final hole, with 62 others already through to the weekend.
