Marcus Kinhult started the day with a three-shot lead and fired six birdies and three bogeys to sign for a 3-under 69 on Saturday an reacdh 14-under. He takes a two-shot lead at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in his search for a second DP World Tour title.

“It was a bit more of a grind today,” said Kinhult. “The good was very good but I left myself in some tough positions as well and had to grind.

“I think I did pretty well. It feels like it was less greens in regulation and more pressure on the short game today.

“Sleeping on a lead is not easy, I think. It’s only Saturday so it wasn’t that bad – I actually slept all right last night and hope I will tonight again.

“I enjoy playing this golf course and I look forward to the challenge tomorrow.”

South African Ryan van Velzen produced a flawless 65 featuring an eagle at the par-5 13 and lies in second place one shot ahead of the Netherlands’ Darius van Driel in third place at 11-under after making a single bogey for a 67.

England’s Matthew Southgate made two bogeys early on and closed with a 69 for a share of fourth place at 10-under alongside South African Dean Burmester who made two double bogeys at the par-3 5th and the par-5 7th for a 70.

Also tied in third place are Spain’s Angel Ayora, whose 65 featured and eagle at the par-5 15th and a double bogey at the par-3 5th, as well as the Netherlands’ Joost Luiten and France’s Romain Langasque who both made a single bogey and shot a 68.
