Sepp Straka made his first two bogeys of the tournament in his final three holes including at the 18th to sign for a 70 and reach 25-under at the Stadium Course but still converted his first career 54-hole lead/co-lead into his third PGA Tour title at The American Express.

“It was great. It was awesome,” said Straka. “It was a fun day, trying to manage the lead and manage my nerves. Just had a good time playing out there, and, yeah, very happy to come out with a win.

“This course kind of makes it easy [to stay focused], because you just have to hit your shots. There’s no safe play. You just have to hit your numbers, especially as firm as the greens are. You have to execute. That made it easy.”

263 ties the Austrian’s career-low 72-hole total and he is now fully exempt on Tour through the 2027 season.

American Justin Thomas carded a bogey-free 66 to finish second at 23-under, his eighth career runner-up  finish on Tour and his second in his last three starts.

Compatriot Justin Lower fired a final-round bogey-free 69 and finished in a share of third place at 22-under alongside Australian Jason Day who made two bogeys but also shot 69. Day’s first top-three finish since his runner-up at the 2023 Open Championship.

American Taylor Moore, T7 at 19-under, finished the tournament bogey-free to become the first player since Joaquin Niemann (2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic) to play 72 holes without a bogey (or worse) and not win.

The American Express, the third event of the 2025  Season and second Full-Field Event, marked the second opportunity for players to earn FedExCup points towards the Aon Swing 5 with entry into each of the next two Signature Events (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, The Genesis Invitational).

The top five players, not otherwise exempt, who earn the most FedExCup points during the Sony Open in Hawaii, The American Express and Farmers Insurance Open will qualify for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while the top five players not otherwise exempt who earn the most FedExCup points during those three events and the WM Phoenix Open, will qualify for The Genesis Invitational.

The Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5 are eligibility pathways for players, not already qualified, to play their way into Signature Events via the FedExCup standings.

The Aon Next 10 for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational was determined through the 2024 FedExCup Fall standings.
